On Friday May 11, 2007, Soldiers & Sailors Military Museum and Memorial will host its third annual fundraiser gala, the "Cannon Ball". A patriotic evening honoring Allegheny County Chief Executive Dan Onorato and all things American, including a tribute to the brave men and women in uniform that serve and protect our beloved country encompass this year's theme "Celebrating America."

Dan Onorato is being honored as Soldiers & Sailors Friend & Patriot of the year in recognition of his support and involvement with the museum and veteran community. As an active friend of Soldiers & Sailors (since before his days on County Council) Dan Onorato has helped attain fundamental support for Soldiers& Sailors and regularly takes part in events honoring local heroes. Under his administration as Chief Executive, Allegheny County implemented programs for educating veterans on employment opportunities and health benefits, with a focus on our troops who recently returned from serving in the War on Terrorism.
