The Sentinel Magazine, February 2010 edition McGrath Brothers Restoration Project Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hall & Museum Trust, Inc. announces the beginning of a restoration project of a large 44"x 36" framed charcoal photographic portrait of five Civil War soldier brothers from Allegheny County. Originally titled "Five Brothers in the Civil War" the portrait was taken in 1894 of the 4 surviving McGrath brothers standing beside a vacant chair, a metaphor for a departed family member. The chair is made into an impromptu shrine to the fifth brother who fell in battle at Chickamauga Georgia in 1863. Soldiers & Sailors Holds Kick-Off Planning Reception for 100th Anniversary in 2010 Pittsburgh, PA (October 2009) - The historic museum sits atop the hill off Fifth Avenue in Oakland, appearing almost as if it presides over the surrounding campus and hospitals - younger-bodied buildings that have more recently joined the museum on the hillside.
