Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hall & Museum Trust, Inc. today announced it will partner with the Home and Garden Show at the Pittsburgh Convention Center, as their featured display. The "Gettysburg 150, Travel Back in Time" exhibit will transport visitors on a unique historical journey through time to commemorate the 150th Anniversary of the Civil War.

Join Soldiers & Sailors for its Second Annual African-American Celebration!
The Second Annual African-American Heritage Celebration will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 3, 2012.
The free event will feature a special exhibit and lecture, as well as performances and a film presentation.
The special one day exhibit and lecture titled "Incredible Grace: One People, Two Continents, Three Centuries of War" will be hosted by Soldiers & Sailors Historian John L. Ford. It will address wars that Africans and African-Americans fought that gave promise of freedom, liberty and justice for all, while they continued to embrace the ideals of equality, even though the fullness of it still remains elusive today.

McGrath Brothers Restoration Project
Five McGrath Brothers In The Civil War
Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hall & Museum Trust, Inc. announces the beginning of a restoration project of a large 44"x 36" framed charcoal photographic portrait of five Civil War soldier brothers from Allegheny County. Originally titled "Five Brothers in the Civil War" the portrait was taken in 1894 of the 4 surviving McGrath brothers standing beside a vacant chair, a metaphor for a departed family member. The chair is made into an impromptu shrine to the fifth brother who fell in battle at Chickamauga Georgia in 1863.

Pittsburgh, PA (October 2009) - The historic museum sits atop the hill off Fifth Avenue in Oakland, appearing almost as if it presides over the surrounding campus and hospitals - younger-bodied buildings that have more recently joined the museum on the hillside. Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hall & Museum has seen many years on that hill - in fact, it will be 100 years next October.
