These artifacts show the effects military conflicts had on society on the Homefront as well as the cultural differences our military experienced through the spoils of war they brought home.
The Woman’s Role
Women always played some sort of role during military conflicts. In the Civil War they were vinidares that helped the soldiers in the camp. They also had the role of nurses in the hospitals caring for the wounded in all the wars. But in WWII, their roles increased and besides serving in the military they needed to work in the factories on the homefront. Soldiers & Sailors examines all these different roles throughout the museum and have a special exhibit dedicated to women veterans.
Everyone Pitches In
Everyone is always affected by war. Soldiers & Sailors displays how society pitches in to make a difference. Propaganda is a popular weapon used on all sides to sway society on their support of a conflict. In our “Cartoons go to War” display we show how different cartoonists tried to draw their way into swaying history.
