Join Soldiers & Sailors as its Museum "Comes to Life" at its Cannonball Gala6:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 3, 2012FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: CONTACT: Colleen Elms PITTSBURGH - Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hall & Museum Trust, Inc. announced today it will host the first event in this year's two part annual fundraiser on Saturday, November 3, 2012. The Cannon Ball Gala will include dinner, dancing, entertainment and the presentation of the "2012 Friend & Patriot of Year." "Each year, Soldiers & Sailors host its annual fundraiser which helps raise money to provide valuable educational and veteran programs and preserve and maintain our historic memorial and museum," said President & CEO John F. McCabe. "This is the time when we ask the community to show their support for the Memorial, our organization and our mission." The evening will begin with museum exhibits ‘coming to life' during the cocktail hour. Guests will meet notable characters included in many of the exhibits, including Abraham Lincoln, Civil War Lieutenant James Harbison, USO performers, WWI pilots, and heroes from today's conflicts. This is an opportunity for guests to see the museum like they never have before. County Executive Rich Fitzgerald will join McCabe as emcee and will continue the evening focused on the historic landmark and museum by sharing remarks and showing a short video. Soldiers & Sailors will recognize Mr. John Chujko of J.V. Chujko Inc., a Pittsburgh event service company since 1948. Mr. Chujko has been a partner of Soldiers & Sailors for more than fifteen years and has assisted in developments and enhancements in both its Grand Ballroom and Auditorium. His company has annually supported the organization's events through donations. Guests will also enjoy a silent auction and dancing to the memorable sounds of the band Dancing Queen. Soldiers & Sailors will host its second event in its two part annual fundraiser, the Second Annual Military Follies at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 30, 2012. The show will entertain the entire family with military and patriotic performances from stage and screen performed by local talents. This year's talents include Joe Grushecky, Bill Deasy, The Pittsburgh Broadway Stars, CLO, Shailen Abram and more.
