New Officers Elected to Board of Directors

Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hall & Museum Trust, Inc. is pleased to announce that on Thursday, October 9, 2008, its Board of Directors elected new officers. Elected as Chairperson is former Secretary of the Board Lt. Col. Lois Shirley, US Army, Retired. The new Vice Chairperson is Ralph Ussask of Hinkel & Hofmann and the Marine Corp League. The new Secretary is Michael Murphy of Allegheny County's Veteran Services and returning as Treasurer is Col .Paul Platek, US. Army, Retired. The term of each office is three years.

Former officers Anthony Filardi & Al Schraepfer have been either the Chairperson or Vice chairperson for the past nine years since Soldiers & Sailors became an independent nonprofit in 2000. Mr. Filardi and Mr. Schraepfer offered their thanks and praises to the entire Board of Directors and Staff of Soldiers & Sailors for their help, hard work and a job well done. Both offered their best wishes to the new officers and reassured that, although they will not be officers, they will still remain key participating members on the Board of Directors.

Also at the meeting, the board of directors appointed John F. McCabe to be the new Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. Since April 2008 John F. McCabe has been the Senior Vice President. A vote by the Board of Directors was needed to appoint an Executive Vice President.
