Rentals

Soldiers & Sailors will provide a list of exclusive caterers and other vendors who are trained in the policies and procedures of the museum. All of our vendors hold the proper licensing and meet the standards of insurance set forth by the museum. Donated food, beverages, services and other event elements may be allowed but require approval by the Sales Department.

Should your need for tables and chairs exceed the number provided by Soldiers & Sailors it will be necessary to contact our preferred vendors, J.V. Chujko Inc or All Occasion for rentals.

Only Soldiers & Sailors owns the right to purchase, sell, serve and dispense liquor and malt brewed beverages in and on the leased Premises.

All rentals are for an 8 hour period, during operational hours of the museum. Any evening events must end by 11:00 pm unless prior arrangements have been made with the Sales Department.

Entertainment

Soldiers & Sailors reserves the right to approve or disapprove any entertainment offered at a special event to ensure that the nature of the gathering is in the best interest of the museum. The name and type of entertainment must be provided to the Sales Department two weeks prior to the event.

Lighting, Sound and Media Services

Soldiers & Sailors includes in its rental package a public-address system for most of the rental areas; outside systems cannot be plugged into this system. A state of the art line-array sound system is available in the auditorium. A J.V. Chujko, Inc. sound technician must be used for adjustments or special needs. Additional sound and lighting equipment can be brought into the museum with prior approval is received; we ask that this request be made 30 days prior to your event.

Security

Soldiers & Sailors will have special-event personnel on site for event set-up and breakdown. Certain special events will require security, including all events serving alcohol. Soldiers & Sailors uses uniformed, off-duty Pittsburgh Police officers as its security. These officers, as well as the special-event personnel will be available to contact the appropriate city agency in the event of an emergency. If the client’s entertainment, speakers, VIPs, dignitaries or special guests have their own private security, the Sales Department must be notified. Failure to do so may result in individual(s) being refused admittance to the museum.

Parking

Parking is rarely an issue for evening events. The museum does not own or operate the parking lots or meters adjacent to its property. The City of Pittsburgh Parking Authority controls the meters if variances are needed. The underground parking lot is operated by the University of Pittsburgh, and can be contacted at 412.624.7967.

Food & Beverage

Soldiers & Sailors strongly encourages utilization of the following professionals for your upcoming event. These industry experts have been hand selected to complement and enhance your occasion. Clients shall not bring any food of any kind onto the premises nor permit any guests or invitees to do so, unless prior approval has been given by Soldiers & Sailors. Cookies are the exception!
