Spotlight On: The Berlin Wall
58 years ago on August 13, 1961 construction of the Berlin Wall began. This symbol of the Cold War stood for 28 years, serving as a barrier between Western Europe and the Eastern Bloc. During this time, no one was allowed to approach this physical representation of the “Iron Curtain” from the eastern side. Visit Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hall & Museum beginning August 8th through the end of the month to view actual pieces of the Berlin Wall and have the opportunity to put your hands on what was once untouchable.
